Essie,
I enjoyed reading your story...thanks for sharing.
With my generation now being the grandparent's, it's a most blessed event spending time with the grandchildren. Hubby and I are the one's that seem to have more stability to offer, and for that I'm eternally grateful.
Just today our soon to be 4 year old was here and we played in the snow. As I watched her {took some pics, too}, I relished in the wonderment of having the opportunity for sharing this precious time together.
My husband, aged 58, just told me again this morning how much he still misses his grandparents. I never had such grand times with my own, so we're busy making memories of our own...based upon unconditional love...something I've learned through my grandchildren.
"If I'd known grandchildren were so much fun, I'd had them first."
Isn't it grand being able too recall, however our memories are triggered, the love we share(d) with those older of our kin.
When you become the grandparent it sounds as though you will have wonderful role models to follow in their footsteps. Perhaps this is the greatest love we extend...those feelings we once experienced.
take care, granny
